Fix Tuning is a free tool that automatically adjusts song tuning, allowing musicians to play along with slightly out of tune tracks without retuning their instruments. Enjoy harmony without the hassle.
To get started click on Choose File and select a file to be analyzed.
If you want to tune the file to a reference frequency other than 440 Hz, like 432 Hz enter the desired frequency in the reference frequency field.
Your file will now be analyzed. This is a fairly quick process and shouldn't take more than a few seconds on a modern computer.
Once the analysis is complete, you will see the pitch distribution of the file, some more options, and a download button.
Fix Tuning is now ready to correct the pitch of your file. It does so by adjusting the playback speed of the file a small amount.
You can listen to the corrected file by clicking on the Play Preview button.
If the detection is off, you can manually adjust the pitch offset by entering a value in the pitch offset field. The pitch offset is in cents, where 100 cents is one semitone. If you want to go back to the detected value, you can click on the small Reset button next to the pitch offset field.
If you want the pitch to be fixed by tuning it up or down, you can select the desired direction in the Correction Direction field.
Once you are happy with the result, you can download the corrected file by clicking on the Download button. The processing will take a little while before the download is finished.
The downloaded file will always be in the wav format.
The pitch detection algorithm used in Fix Tuning is reasonably resilient. It should work well for most western tonal music using equal temperament tuning but may struggle with music that is atonal, microtonal, or has a lot of noise.
If the detection works well the pitch distribution should look like a bell curve. When in any doubt listen to the preview and trust your ears.
If you would like to adjust pitch without changing the speed, you can use my TimeStretch Player.
You can enter the pitch offset that Fix Tuning detected using the Tune knob of TimeStretch Player.
The file you select is only processed locally on your computer. It is not uploaded to the server or stored.
